Metaphysics Yes

    Yes is said to be universal. Take for example:

    "That is not true"
    Yes, you are correct.

    "I can do this!"
    Yes, you are correct.

    "I can't do this!"
    Yes, you are correct.

    I think it'll be an interesting discussion. What do you think?

    Yes is only as universal as No. They are part of the same lie. Make of it what you will.

    I would like to know if there is any language that doesn't have two words similar to yes and no, for general positive and negative. Maybe there are languages that have more words like yes and no for different degrees of certainty. English may some like that, such as probably.

    Below are the last lines of Ulysses by James Joyce. Molly Bloom remembers her youth in Gibraltar and how Leopold Bloom asked her to marry him. Notice the use of the word yes in her thoughts. It's a very nice piece of text.
