    My opinion is:

    Housing

    Agriculture

    Husbandtry

    Clean Water

Waste Disposal : sewage systems, garbage collection

In that order, you might choose others closer to now that effect your work, or life enjoyment in other ways.

Housing was a cave or a tree from the beginning and has just evolved from there so i dont think that counts, same with agriculture, and clean water has always been there except now we purify, thats like saying oxygen is a good invention, so my five:

gunpowder/guns (you can have all the knowledge int he world but you can be conquered without guns, eg the mayans)

the wheel ( although a good invention, peoples like the incas didnt have use for it because it would just hinder bringing a rock up a mountain)

    the combustion engine

the manupulation of fire (like when people began to makefire on there own and didnt require a lighting stirke or something)

the silicon chip (for 1st world countries has made our discovery of things inscience and space boom)

    aw tablet,

I thought you being an artist you would have added perspectivism(invented during the Renaissance) which changed the way the west looks at allot more than paintings.

    1. Printing Press (information became available)
    2. Toilet Paper (can't argue with this one)
    3. The Wheel (variable uses)
    4. Telescope ("Earth not the center of the universe", Church's grand scheme of things went to ashes)
    5. Sundial (gave rise to the concept of time, also related is Stone Henge)
    6. The Pryramids (Had to include this, time they were built makes it seem inconceivable)

    Speech
    Writing
    Mathematical Equations
    Automobiles
    Computers

These are the ones I would choose. For without the invention of speech we would have not tried to find a way to write. Without writing, no mathematical equations, no automobiles or computers.

To me these are the most important inventions.

    1. Logic/Reasoning (without this we may have been extinct by now)
    2. transportation (all types, without that nothing moves)
    3. religion (without faith where would we be now?????)
    4. Art (all types, music, painting, poems, speech, writing, etc, which developed communication)
    5. Education (without it and yearn for knowledge, we would be still in the cave era of life)

I know these are not technological inventions, but remember without these, technology wouldnt exist.
