I just signed up for ID and started to read this forum after setting my control panel settings. What I noticed is that each post has a EDIT button on it. It would appear that anyone can edit others post is this correct? Perhaps I might have gotten a message if I tried to edit anothers post but I am not about to try for fear I would be breaking a rule.

shots like Zsandmann said you can only use it to edit your own posts. Admin, supermoderators, and moderators can use the edit button to edit anyone's post. Moderators can only edit posts in forums that they are a moderator in. Admin can edit posts in any forum and I am pretty sure supermods can edit posts in any forum also. The forum staff only edit posts if a post breaks one of the rules, is not appropriate, or if there is anything else wrong with it.

I hope this explains what the edit button is for.
