Astronomy First Confirmed Picture of a Planet Beyond the Solar System

    After numerous attempts astronomers have finally secured the first photograph of a planet that lies beyond our solar system. The planet is estimated to be almost twice as large as jupiter and is in orbit around a sun similar to our own albeit much younger.

    Up until now all we have had is speculation (although pretty confirmed speculation) of other planets due to perceived wobbles noted in those suns. But this represents the first actual photo of another planet.

    What a great discovery for the planetary sciences group. Thanks for posting this Bleys, even if it is almost 2 years old! It may take me awhile but I will eventually make my way to more threads like this. :roll:
