Einstein\'s Riddle -Solved

Einstein`s Riddle:
Einstein wrote the following riddle. He said that 98% of the world could not solve it. But several NIEHS scientists were able to solve it, and they said its not all that hard if you pay attention and are very patient. Give it a try:

There are 5 houses in 5 different colors in a row. In each house lives a person with a different nationality. The 5 owners drink a certain type of beverage, smoke a certain brand of cigar, and keep a certain pet. No owners have the same pet, smoke the same brand of cigar, or drink the same beverage. Other facts:

1. The Brit lives in the red house.
2. The Swede keeps dogs as pets.
3. The Dane drinks tea.
4. The green house is on the immediate left of the white house.
5. The green house`s owner drinks coffee.
6. The owner who smokes Pall Mall rears birds.
7. The owner of the yellow house smokes Dunhill.
8. The owner living in the center house drinks milk.
9. The Norwegian lives in the first house.
10. The owner who smokes Blends lives next to the one who keeps cats.
11. The owner who keeps the horse lives next to the one who smokes Dunhill.
12. The owner who smokes Bluemasters drinks beer.
13. The German smokes Prince.
14. The Norwegian lives next to the blue house.
15. The owner who smokes Blends lives next to the one who drinks water.

This one is difficult... I nearly got it right.

I guess I screwed that one up... I forgot to type the last line...

"WHO HAS THE PET FISH?"

You would have gotten it correct...

this is a good one, I was trying to solve it today, missed it 3 times but suceeded a couple of minutes ago.

when you draw charts and all, answers start to become visible. if you didnt already, give it a go. it is really fun.

This link is a simple solution, in case of emergency.

In several seminars I have been to this question is posed, of course after the first time, you just look really smart.

The first time I did this was in a "working in a team" workshop...we had to solve it WITHOUT pen nor paper.

That is a tough task, and certainly is an effective method of judging team dynamics.

Needless to say I would take charge, get exasperated and boss everyone around...but I had to give my employers value for money right ?
