    The front paws don't resemble those of a racoon, though I admit I can't get a vary good look at a splayed paw.

    Here is a link with a picture similar to the one you posted and the zoologist called in declared it as a raccoon with mange also, the article is from 2010.

    Well,...some updates,...
    It looks like this story isnt done yet.
    The animal was taken to a taxidermist as interesting as it was, to be preserved for entertainment.
    The taxidermist has stated under no uncertain terms,.. that this animal is not a racoon.
    The local paper is also trying to secure an interview for an article.

    Getting more interesting by the minute.
