Omega-3 Kills Cancer Cells

ScienceDaily (Apr. 5, 2009) — Docosahexanoic acid (DHA), an omega-3 fatty acid found in fish oils, has been shown to reduce the size of tumours and enhance the positive effects of the chemotherapy drug cisplatin, while limiting its harmful side effects. The rat experiments provide some support for the plethora of health benefits often ascribed to omega-3 acids.


Professor A. M. El-Mowafy led a team of researchers from Mansoura University, Egypt, who studied DHA's effects on solid tumors growing in mice, as well as investigating how this fatty acid interacts with cisplatin, a chemotherapy drug that is known to cause kidney damage. El-Mowafy said, "DHA elicited prominent chemopreventive effects on its own, and appreciably augmented those of cisplatin as well. Furthermore, this study is the first to reveal that DHA can obliterate lethal cisplatin-induced nephrotoxicity and renal tissue injury."
DHA is an omega-3 fatty acid that is commonly found in cold-water fish oil, and some vegetable oils. It is a major component of brain gray matter and of the retina in most mammalian species and is considered essential for normal neurological and cellular developments. According to the authors, "While DHA has been tentatively linked with protection against cardiovascular, neurological and neoplastic diseases, there exists a paucity of research information, in particular regarding its interactions with existing chemotherapy drugs". The researchers found that, at the molecular level, DHA acts by reducing leukocytosis (white blood cell accumulation), systemic inflammation, and oxidative stress – all processes that have been linked with tumour growth.
El-Mowafy and his colleagues have called for greater deployment of omega-3 in the fight against cancer. They write, "Our results suggest a new, fruitful drug regimen in the management of solid tumors based on combining cisplatin, and possibly other chemotherapeutics, with DHA".

A good thing just got better. Omega3s support brain neurons and when gray matter is lost brain cells die.

Along w/ brain, heart, and kidney health, it now appears it kills cancer.

Now, we cannot let all the fame go to Omega3 Fatty Fish Oils, let the flax seed oil reign. I do not want to steal any thunder here Bode, but I was actually researching this because of my mother's cancer demise, and because at least half of my family who died from natural causes died from cancer. In fact, last week, my older brother Joshua (not samarai) just found a cyst on his neck that was tested as cancerous and is having it removed (hopefully successfully) this Tuesday. I have been meaning to post something about this myself for a very long time, but Idk, too lazy or something.

Now I don't want to act like I understand everything about how or why it works, but there is a regimen consisting of cottage cheese and flax seed oil that has been researched for like ten years now by this German Doctor of biochemistry by the name of Dr Johanna Budwig. Put in your blender:

1 cup Organic cottage cheese (low fat, not too hard one, best make your own)(or yogurt)
2-5 Tbsp. of flax seed oil-
1-3 Tbsp. of freshly ground up flax seed (coffee grinder ($15) works fine)
enough water to make it soft
little cayenne

optional:

little garlic
little red pepper
little champagne

Make it very soft.

Eat some of it every day.

No preacher goes to heaven without praying. I have this little mix in my diet often as a snack. I personally love cottage cheese and adding the flax part is of little inconvenience to me. I prefer black pepper added only though myself.
