I collected a lot of the clues and solutions during FTR.

Here's how I arrived at that key:

The decimal ASCII values for the letters in the key are summed, and the result is added to the ASCII values for each character. What results is a 3-digit number for each character. Through frequency analysis, it is possible to determine the code for one character. Then, the key sum may be determined. I just found a couple characters which gave that sum, and used those as the key to decrypt this at the above site.

I actually have a program I wrote in C (yes, I was very seriously into this) that lets you just put in the "key sum" (I think it does frequency analysis too), but I figured out some characters that added to that so people could use the online tool.

(I'm amazed that site is still up... probably won't be for much longer... I graduated nearly a year ago)

GF, you are correct. My apologies for not properly crediting the source. In my haste to post, I forgot to include the link.

You were such a major contributor to FTR, and that site is/was a wonderful reference for the game. Perhaps someone can host it so we don't lose it?

Not a problem.

For posterity's sake, I created a copy of my old FTR site here:

Unfortunately, the original site was written with heavy use of the Zope (http://www.zope.org/) web sever/database/scripting language, which I don't have access to anywhere else, so I had to make a static copy of it. Not like I'm expecting to add any more clues or anything.

Who is 0? Anyone have any ideas? The only person I can think of is (Uncle) Jeff. I don't really think this is the right answer so anyone else have a more sensible idea...?
