Personally, I think this is one of those rules that make just no sense at all.

In September, to preserve "respect and dignity" for newborns, the neonatal unit of Calderdale Royal Hospital in Halifax, England, officially banned visitors' "cooing" at infants. Said hospital official Debbie Lawson, "Cooing should be a thing of the past because these are little people with the same rights as you or me." To illustrate the rule, officials displayed a doll holding a sign reading: "What makes you think I want to be looked at?" [BBC News, 9-26-05]

I want to be cooed by cute girls!!!!! I have that right!!!!!

Exactly!! Cooing is a complement, not an insult. It shouldn't be banned! :bounce:

Extreme: Exactly the word I was thinking of![]()

"Cooing should be a thing of the past because these are little people with the same rights as you or me."
Whatever! I know I live in America, not England, but as a minor I have such limited rights. Also, how is cooing a violation of the childrens' rights?

erm ... cooing could err damage their ... developing minds causing them to eh... not develop as fast as erm.. normal children
Bloody sensitive health and safety regulators are the problem here. They have made it illegal to play conkers in school grounds without safety glasses and gloves. They made it illegil to cook for more than 5 children who don't belong to you and other nonsense.
Maybe I'm just an ignorant American, but what is conkers?
its a game where you attach conkers to a string and swing your conker at an opponents conker which they dangle down in front of you untill one is broken. I have fond memories of dipping the conker in vinigar before playing so I'd always win![]()
