My wife and I went to see the much anticipated Watchmen last night. Luckily I had the foresight to go at lunch and pick up tickets to the 8pm showing because upon arrival the place was packed, and ALL the evening showings were sold out!! Some people hate packed theaters but I love the crowd reaction as long as it stays reigned in enough I can hear the film.

If you haven't seen the new remake of the classic 1951 Sci-Fi masterpiece "the Day the Earth Stood Still" I advise you to step out to your local Suncoast video or other simuilar DVD shop-o-rama that carries a lot of vintage film. (I've recently noticed Best Buy carries a lot of selection even if they are a bit more expensive). The new Keanu Reeves and Jennifer Connelly flick is a sad hollow shell of what was once a great story.

Yesterday was one of those weird days where everything feels backwards. After the crazy cold front pushed by with thunderstorms and tornadoes in tow, rain followed, and it rained all night. I awoke to my wife yelling at me that it was snowing. And it was!! We lived in Colorado so snow isn't new to us, but down here in Louisiana it ain't all that common. I bought the Standard Edition game at Target for the reasonable price of $49.99, there is a Galactic Edition that will run you about $80 which includes several guides/books and a DVD about building a better creature which has commentary from people at National Geographic, I was tempted but not enough to pay the difference.

Well I'm just getting settled back in at home after fleeing the lackluster wrath of Hurricane Gustav. Don't get me wrong, I am grateful there was little damage, but it is frustrating to flee home and job and spend sizable sums of money on fuel and supplies only for it to fizzle out.
